Gádor Muntaner

Gádor Muntaner is a leading marine scientist, activist and explorer dedicated to shark research and conservation. Her work combines science with accessible outreach, seeking to bring people closer to the fascinating marine world. Her mission is to transform public perception of sharks and safeguard the oceans for future generations.

Although she began her studies in Pharmacy, during her third year she decided to leave everything to pursue her true vocation: the ocean. She moved to the Canary Islands and began a degree in Marine Sciences. She also holds a master's degree in Marine Resources Management with a specialization in sharks from CICIMAR, Mexico.

She has trained extensively, collaborated in numerous expeditions, disseminated her knowledge through multiple platforms and developed conservation projects with the aim of generating a tangible impact. She has also participated in international congresses presenting crucial studies on shark biology and conservation, marine pollution, the impact of plastics, and environmental education.

In the field of outreach, she has given TED conferences and shared her experience in schools and universities. She is a regular presence in the media and has been featured in national and international documentaries such as Shark Week (Discovery Channel). She is also a storyteller for National Geographic.

She is the co-founder of Mediterranean Fest, a project that harmonizes science, outreach and action for the conservation of the Mediterranean, and has just published her first book, La sonrisa de los tiburones (GeoPlaneta).
